Traveling to Denmark?

Great idea!

This small nation in northern Europe has plenty of amazing places to visit, things to see, and activities to try your hand at.

Here’s our list of the best things to do in Denmark:

1. Stroll Along the Nyhavn Canal

Nyhavn is that quintessential tourist photo-taking spot along a canal in Copenhagen, Denmark. Dating back several hundred years, the canal offers visitors many colorful façades in many pretty pastel hues. There are dozens of buildings, all preserved quite well from the 17th and 18th centuries; along the canal in front of these buildings sit some equally-gorgeous wooden ships.

2. Enjoy Copenhagen

Copenhagen is an amazing city, the cosmopolitan capital of Denmark. Full of history, art, food, architecture, and clean city streets, many of the most exciting things to do in Denmark are in Copenhagen. As one of Europe’s most livable cities year after year, your stay is bound to be comfortable, if not exactly the least expensive place you’ve ever visited.

Aarhus is Denmark’s second-largest city, located north of Copenhagen on the eastern portion of the Jutland Peninsula. Walking the streets of Aarhus gives you both sides of Europe, as many of the buildings are venerable with history, while others are the ultra-modern architectural structures you think of when you think of Scandinavia. If you enjoy shopping, good food, local bands, and fun nights on the town, Aarhus is the place for you to visit.

4. Visit Aalborg

Aalborg, Denmark, is the third largest city in Denmark, after Copenhagen and Aarhus. It is located in the North Jutland region, near the top of the country’s peninsula, where it “juts” into the North Sea. Aalborg has many of the most interesting sites to see in Denmark while there, including the blindingly-bright white Budolfi church, the Aalborg Castle, and some beautiful examples of renaissance architecture, such as the Jørgen Olufsens House and the Jens Bangs Stenhus.
